Portuguese-Spanish adventure

It’s hard to find out in Polish reality, actually in Polish weather after the Spanish-Portuguese sun.

The adventure started in Portugal from visiting Lisbon. I was charmed and still I’m with the atmosphere of Lisbon, seemed to be big and loud, but it hides a lot of warmth and mystery.
The famous trams and narrow streets didn’t disappoint my expectations. I fell in love with azulejos tiles – blue-yellow-white miracles (although I personally prefer the blue- white).

Next days in Portugal I spent in cities like Alcobaca, Batalha and Fatima.
Now I will always associated Alcobaca with the history of King Peter I and his tragically deceased mistress Ines de Castro. Sad and touching story worth reading.

As far as Spain is concerned, I started visiting it with a tour of Cordoba, absolutely unique with lots of flowers hanging on the walls looking like walls of gardens. The most interesting was the Great Mosque – Mosque, because of the red-and-white forest of columns inside and Puente Romano, the Roman bridge on Guadalquivir.
Most I liked the Cadiz (called European Havana) and it really captures the atmosphere of Havana city.
In the city during the hot weather you can feel the breeze from the bay. The walk from the promenade along the botanical garden is impressive. You can find there also local market with seafood (if you like it, I love it).

Another amazing city is Seville – first thought is, of course, Plaza de Espana and Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza. Mandatory I would advise to walk through the oldest district of Santa Cruz and visit the Gothic cathedral and the Moorish bell tower, La Giralda.

From both of these places I brought a lot of tastines associating me with the south: orange wine from Seville, verde wine (green) from Lisbon (actually a lot of wine, but it’s another story :), sardines, jam with bitter orange (orange trees everywhere in the entire trip), almond liqueur (again alcohol hihih 🙂 and many other souvenirs not necessarily connected with food.
After weeks of touring I reserved also time for relax and chose for that the province of Algarve and precisely the city of Albufeira.
